Nicola is a British artist, illustrator and designer who works from a studio based at the foot of the Quantocks in glorious Somerset.
Much of her work has been influenced by the surroundings in which she lives, her paintings often depicting the beautiful countryside and stunning coastline of the South west. Working in oils on canvas with paintbrush and palette knife, is her preferred medium. She also often uses a sponging technique with her oils to create a soft diffused light. "Colour and light are the most important qualities that influence every piece I create and within each artwork I try to create an atmosphere or feeling, enabling the viewer to connect with a memory or perhaps be transported to the place depicted".
Nicola began her career after graduating from Winchester School of Art with a BA Honours degree in fashion and textiles. Her passion for pattern and textiles which she gained at Winchester, forms a large part of the work she does today. Alongside her fine art, Nicola also creates a range of hand made textiles, including hand painted and embroidered cushions, purses and clutch bags.
Nicola has also built up a strong client base in illustration & design over her years working as a professional artist and has had many pieces published by companies such as, WH Smiths, Ling Design, Nigel Quiney, Eurographics, Unicef, Paperhouse, Liberty of London, Creative Tops, and Rosenstiel's to name but a few.
