Hello! My name is Lucy and I live on the Somerset/ Devon border with my husband and rather deamnding siamese cat, Pip.
I have been creating for as long as I can remember really but I began needle felting in 2013. It didn't take me long to discover that I ached to create the wildife and nature that so inspired me. So I stopped purchasing kits and started practicing my own techniques. Six years later I finally feel like I have truly found my style, although as with most artists it is always evolving.
I create my sculptures from a tiny shed in the bottom of the garden that has been 'converted' (carpets and a heater) into a studio. Most days I like to get up early and take a walk out in nature, it means everything to me. I repeatedly fill notebooks with ideas and sketches which I then bring home to recreate either in sculpture, paintings or stories.
In my scuptures I like to incorporate natural dyes from plants that I have foraged for sustainably. As I create I start with an idea that evolves into a story and then ends up as a whimsical creature based on the wild ones I am so lucky to meet on my walks.
I am so pleased to offer some of my designs here at Love From The Artist. You can currently find a collection of some of my textile sculptures and photography, I do plan on adding some of my illustrations very soon so keep an eye out.
Many thanks for reading.
