About : Colin Hill - Artist based in Walton, Somerset

I am a painter based in the countryside of Somerset and work mainly in traditional oils on canvas but also occasionally watercolours, acrylics and pastels. Ever since I was a child I have always had a passion for drawing and painting, but over recent years have had the opportunity to develop my love of both expressive and photo-realistic art and never tire of the excitement of seeing an original creation coming to life on my easle. I am completely self taught and simply paint from the heart. I have been commissioned to paint much loved pets and family members and have also studied the landscapes, sea-scapes and wildlife of the Southwest. For me, art should offer an emotional experience, a gut reaction if you will, so I strive to capture the expressions and individual characters of my painted subjects as if to bring them to life, and to evoke that emotional response in whoever chooses to view my work.
