I was born in Gateshead, on the River Tyne, and grew up loving the buildings around me. I still live in Gateshead but over the years I’ve travelled round Europe and the Mediterranean filling my head with light and colour, boats and trams, beaches and buildings and crumbling walls. All of these and more feed into my paintings. When I’m not painting, I laugh at things through my cartoons and illustrations that are full of animals, aliens, monsters and slightly more normal people.
After a long career in the Civil Service, I left to study Fine Art at Newcastle University, graduating in 2001 with a BA (Hons). Since then I’ve exhibited throughout the region as well as in London and Scotland. My work has won several prizes and is held in public and private collections in the UK and the USA. I am listed in “The Artists of Northumbria” (ed. Marshall Hall, 2005)
